'Billy' was born early (29weeks) and spent 7 weeks in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).

He fought for life and dealt with underdeveloped lungs, digestive system, and had a bad case of anemia. He spent a few days on a respirator then graduated to CPAP then nasal canula, he is now breathing completely on his own. Jaundice was slight and cleared after a couple of days under the bili light.

He came home on a heart/respiration monitor and caffeine because he still "forgot" to breathe every so often. His feedings for 90% of his stay were through gavage (a tube inserted through his nose into his stomach). At first he only received a couple ml and is now eating 55ml (almost 2oz) per meal 8 times a day. Billy still gets supplemental iron for his anemia.

Update: As of 8/5/2005, when he came home, his weight was 5lbs 8oz and his length was 18.3 inches.
