CF to IDE-44 Adaptor

Below are images from a CF to IDE-44 adaptor i bought from DealExtreme.com for US $2.33.

These are nice little adaptors I use for SSD type drives in older laptops I own. Namely ThinkPad 760XL's running at 166MHz that originally came with 810MB to 2.1GB 5400RPM IDE drives. When coupled with Transcend 133X 4GB (largest that works in these old machines), I get about 5MB/s sustained transfer rates.

I also used one in an older Compaq/HP M2005US @1.6GHz with an WinTec 8GB 400X from NewEgg that would not post in the old machines because of BIOS limitations. I was able to get 50MB/s read and 25MB/s writes out of it.

Overall this is no solution for modern SSD drives, but it is now my absolute standard way to replace OLD hard drives in OLD laptops as 2.1GB drives are getting increasingly harder to find in good working condition.
