General safety rules is to never accept and add MonkeyTerm scripts from people you don't trust. If you make triggers to automaticly perform actions containing information from the host, be careful since evil minded persons sending that information to you could, in theory, take over your computer. (think about it :)

Generally all clients that support triggers or variables can be figured in a way that can harm your machine. This is just a warning since many people are not aware of that fact. If you're in doubt ask someone who's been mudding for a while, or send us an email - sure, we like emails :)

Troubleshooting

Please let us know if you are having problems installing MonkeyTerm, and if you do please let us know what the problem is. The installer will try to install some new components and you might need to be logged on as administrator of the computer to make it work.

Q: MonkeyTerm crashes with a wierd error message when i type my name to enter the MUD. Why?
A: Sounds like the vbscript.dll didn't install right. Perhaps you had other open programs while installing MonkeyTerm? Before installing MonkeyTerm, make sure you have closed all other applications. If that still doesn't help you could try upgrade your browser to IE5.5 or later - it uses the latest scripting engine.
If that still doesn't work, then try visiting http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/vbscript/scripting.html and download the v.5.5 of the scripting engine. Make sure you download the version for your current OS (Win2K/Win98 etc.)
